For SMEs, founders and their accountants
Grants and R&D relief on a success fee: if the benefit doesn’t come through, you don’t pay for the advisory.
These claims are rarely lost on the numbers and almost always on the technical case. HMRC wants an Additional Information Form naming the advance sought and the uncertainty resolved; the IRS wants Form 6765 substantiated project by project; Innovate UK and SBIR score the technical narrative before they look at anything else. I write that part, and hand your accountant or CPA something they can actually file.

Frequently asked questions
What does “success fee” mean?
The advisory is paid only if the benefit is granted, as a percentage agreed upfront. The technical report, which the scheme requires either way, has a separate fixed price.
Do you work with my accountant?
Yes, that is the normal arrangement. I handle the technical case, your accountant or CPA handles the filing and the tax computation.
Which projects qualify?
Projects carrying genuine technical uncertainty: new products, processes and software. Configuring or integrating off-the-shelf software, on its own, does not.
